1.3) Which dance should I learn?

(top)

There are many different styles of dance, each with its own music, artistic feel, and culture.

Some dances (e.g. ballroom) require a partner whereas others (e.g. tap) do not.
Some dances (e.g. ballet) have a more structured history, and therefore, are more structured in their instruction.
Some dances (e.g. salsa or hip hop) teach you moves that you can use in a social atmosphere or at nightclubs.
Some dances are very traditional (e.g. Indian) and focus not only on moves but the history and culture behind the dance as well.

The type of dance you decide to learn depends on your goals and whether or not you want a lot of structure, a social environment where you can dance and practice regularly, or you want to take it to a professional level for performances with a dance company.
