1.8) Do I need special shoes or dancewear?

(top)

Special shoes or dancewear depend entirely on the dance. Some dances such as ballet or dance require even beginner students to be in proper attire and have proper shoes. Other dances such as ballroom or salsa may not require special shoes in beginner classes, but as you advance you may want to invest in the proper attire to get the most out of your classes. Most importantly, wear comfortable clothes and shoes that don’t restrict movement and won’t cause injury. For more aerobic classes (hip hop/jazz) wear sport attire; you will sweat. Also, keep jewelry to a minimum as it can get caught and/or hurt you and/or your partner. Remember to check the section on “Requirements” on the Class Details page to make sure there are no mandatory requirements in attire.
